Davis Polk Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance co-head Joseph Hall was recently quoted in the New York Times on the SEC’s decision to enhance its focus on climate-related disclosure in public company filings. Hall noted that the timing of the announcement – days before confirmation hearings for Gary Gensler, Biden’s choice for SEC chair – puts the issue “front and center” in the U.S. Senate. “It’s a warning flare to let people know new disclosure rules are coming down the pike,” he said.
