2018 marked the tenth anniversary of China’s Anti-Monopoly Law. While the past year saw little change in the substance of Chinese antitrust enforcement, it did bring potentially significant changes to the enforcement process. In our annual review, we examine the key takeaways from the past year in enforcement, including:

  • China’s new streamlined bureaucratic structure and the resulting impact on merger reviews and antitrust investigations;
  • China’s continued use of conduct commitments (i.e., behavioral remedies); and
  • The impact of U.S. - China trade policy on China’s antitrust enforcement.
