On October 16, 2025, Davis Polk partner Joe Hall and partner and Financial Institutions practice head Margaret Tahyar will be among the speakers at DC Fintech Week 2025.

Joe will speak on the “Crowd Control: Who Owns the Customer, Who Owns the Investor?” panel. The panel will focus on the contest for customer ownership in an era of open data including how platforms, regulators and market infrastructure determine who gets to serve the customer, and who gets to participate as an investor.

Margaret will speak on the “So…What Are You Exactly? Broker-Dealers, Banks, and Protocols Meet the Licensing Dilemma” panel. The panel will discuss the future of licensing, including whether tomorrow’s financial innovators need a bank charter, a broker-dealer license, or something entirely new, and how regulation can evolve without stifling the architectures redefining finance.
