Davis Polk has announced that 12 lawyers have been promoted to counsel effective December 1, 2019: Jonathan Brown, Jamie Corner, Daniel Forester, Dominic Foulkes, Andrew Gehring, Matthew Kelly, Adam Mehes, Stefani Myrick, Konstantinos Papadopoulos, Christopher Robertson, Nino Stamatovic and Andrew Yaphe.

Mr. Brown is counsel in Davis Polk’s Corporate Department, practicing in the Finance Group in New York. His practice includes representing financial sponsors, corporate borrowers, underwriters and various lenders in a wide range of domestic and cross-border transactions, including leveraged acquisition financings, project financings, asset-based financings, exit financings and investment-grade, unsecured financings. In addition, Mr. Brown advises hedge funds and corporations in negotiating MRA and GMRA-standard agreements and other trading and financing documentation.

Dr. Corner is counsel in Davis Polk’s Corporate Department, practicing in the London office (currently on secondment). He advises issuers, selling shareholders and investment banking clients on initial public offerings, follow-on offers, private placements, and other UK Listing Rule transactions, as well as providing ongoing corporate governance and regulatory advice to listed companies.

Mr. Forester is counsel in Davis Polk’s Corporate Department, practicing in the Intellectual Property and Technology Transactions Group in New York. He advises clients on intellectual property and technology issues arising from corporate and commercial transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, data or intellectual property licensing, development and commercialization arrangements, joint ventures and collaborations, financings, restructurings and capital market offerings. He is also a member of the data privacy and cybersecurity practice and advises clients on cybersecurity, personal data, technology and data initiatives, development of privacy and data security policies and in connection with larger strategic transactions.

Mr. Foulkes is counsel in Davis Polk’s Tax Department, practicing in the London office. He advises on U.K. tax issues across the firm’s practice, including in connection with corporate acquisitions and reorganizations, corporate and structured finance, intellectual property and capital markets transactions.

Mr. Gehring is counsel in Davis Polk’s Litigation Department in New York. He represents clients in a wide range of civil litigation matters, including complex commercial and contractual disputes, mass tort actions, professional liability suits, and class actions. He has represented major industrial manufacturers, utility providers, technology and media companies, accounting and law firms, and financial institutions, among other companies, at both the trial and appellate level, in both federal and state court. His practice also includes extensive arbitration work, as well as advising clients on litigation risk in connection with potential transactions and otherwise outside of actual litigation.

Mr. Kelly is counsel in Davis Polk’s Litigation Department in New York, where he has represented clients in a variety of regulatory, white-collar, and civil litigation matters, including investigations by government agencies and self-regulatory organizations, internal investigations, shareholder derivative suits, and complex commercial and contractual disputes. A member of Davis Polk’s data privacy and cybersecurity practice, Mr. Kelly often advises clients on matters that present significant technological or data-driven challenges, including issues related to statistical modeling, machine learning, data governance, data privacy, and cybersecurity.

Mr. Mehes is counsel in Davis Polk’s Litigation Department in New York. His practice focuses on complex civil litigation and international arbitration, including antitrust and securities class action lawsuits, bankruptcy litigation, commercial disputes, and Anti-Terrorism Act and other mass tort actions. Mr. Mehes has represented financial institutions, global corporations, and corporate directors in a variety of class actions and individual actions involving antitrust, securities, Commodity Exchange Act, RICO, and various state law claims, many of which have involved complex financial transactions. 

Ms. Myrick is counsel in Davis Polk’s Litigation Department and White Collar Criminal Defense and Government Investigations Group, practicing in the Washington DC office. Her practice focuses on government investigations and enforcement actions, with a particular focus on matters related to the enforcement of the federal securities laws. She has represented multinational corporations, financial institutions, boards of directors, and individuals in connection with investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodities Futures Trading Commission, and the Federal Reserve. She also represents clients in connection with confidential internal investigations and advises clients on corporate governance and compliance matters, including the design of policies and procedures to mitigate insider trading and other risks.

Mr. Papadopoulos is counsel in Davis Polk’s Corporate Department, practicing in the São Paulo office. He represents both corporate and financial institution clients across a broad range of capital markets transactions, including registered and Rule 144A/Regulation S IPOs and follow-on equity offerings and Rule 144A/Regulation S debt financings. He also advises lenders and borrowers in connection with debt restructurings and other secured and unsecured financings.

Mr. Robertson is counsel in Davis Polk’s Corporate Department in New York, practicing in the Restructuring Group. He regularly represents companies, hedge funds, banks, creditors and other strategic parties in a wide range of corporate restructurings, including in connection with prepackaged and traditional bankruptcies, out-of-court workouts, DIP financings and Section 363 sales.

Mr. Stamatovic is counsel in Davis Polk’s Litigation Department and White Collar Criminal Defense and Government Investigations Group, practicing in the Washington DC office. He represents companies and individuals in a wide range of criminal and civil enforcement matters, congressional inquiries and internal investigations involving allegations of fraud, violations of anti-bribery laws, money laundering and enforcement of the federal securities laws. His practice spans a variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, finance, energy and the automotive and technology sectors. Mr. Stamatovic’s practice has included matters in multiple jurisdictions across Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Mr. Yaphe is counsel in Davis Polk’s Litigation Department, practicing in Northern California. He has represented clients in a broad range of civil litigation matters in federal and state court nationwide including securities cases, antitrust cases, and other complex class action matters, as well as commercial disputes. His clients operate in an array of industries including life sciences, technology (both hardware and software), financial services, manufacturing, and retailers, among others. He has successfully argued substantive matters in both trial and appellate courts. In addition, he coordinates Davis Polk’s pro bono program in Northern California and has represented a number of pro bono clients in a variety of proceedings.
