Davis Polk partners Christopher Schell, Yan Zhang and Derek Walters served as editors of the seventh edition of In Depth: Structured Products Law and authored the Editors’ preface and the “USA” chapter. The book provides an overview of recent changes and developments in the legal and regulatory frameworks governing structured products markets in key jurisdictions worldwide. In the “USA” chapter, the authors explore trends in the overall regulatory framework, including the roles and legal regimes of U.S. regulators, the efforts of the Department of Labor to broaden the scope of individuals who may become a “fiduciary,” and the impact of the current economic reality on the disclosure, marketing, pricing and trading of structured products.
