We favorably resolved four separate ICC arbitrations for our client

Davis Polk represented four affiliates of Sete Brasil in four separate ICC International Court of Arbitration (ICC) arbitrations brought by affiliates of Singaporean shipbuilder Sembcorp Marine relating to an $800 million dispute arising out of the construction of four deepwater drilling rigs. The rigs were being constructed by Sete Brasil to produce oil for Petrobras, Brazil’s state-owned energy company, and the contracts were the subject of bribery and bid-rigging allegations in the Petrobras criminal matter pending in Brazil. The Sembcorp Marine claims were favorably resolved as part of a negotiated restructuring of Sete Brasil.

The Davis Polk team included partner Frances E. Bivens, counsel David B. Toscano and associates Chui-Lai Cheung and Rebecca L. Harris. All members of the Davis Polk team are based in the New York office.
