Assistant Manager, Corporate Paralegals
Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm (overtime as required)
The Corporate Paralegal– Restructuring assists attorneys in all stages of Chapter 11 and Chapter 15 bankruptcy proceedings. They provide a vital service in preparing and verifying necessary documents to comply with federal and local rules, conduct precedent research, electronically file documents on the court docket, prepare for court hearings and provide support to lawyers at the hearing.
Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Draft correspondence and documentation under attorney supervision
- Revise and proofread draft pleadings and other court documents under attorney supervision
- Gather, organize and maintain precedent collections
- Conduct factual research assignments and report findings
- File court documents electronically on case docket
- Coordinate with internal and external working groups to facilitate case progress
Fee Application Preparation:
- Draft monthly fee statement and interim compensation applications
- Review and revise task narrative and disbursement detail in compliance with federal and local fee guidelines
- Coordinate workflow, including working closely with attorneys, billing department and administrative assistants
Hearing Preparation:
- Analyze docket and draft hearing agenda
- Retrieve and organize underlying documents
- Coordinate with Chambers regarding submission
- Compile all documents, books and other material and provide needed support during hearing, including coordinating with Chambers
- Ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines
- Must be punctual and reliable
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other applications as needed
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Must be able to work collaboratively with attorneys and staff, demonstrating strong teamwork and a positive attitude
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to proofread typed material for typographical, spelling and grammatical errors
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ensure confidentiality of all the Firm’s and client’s documentation and information
- Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record is required
- Minimum 5 plus years related experience preferred
The expected base salary for this position is $120,000 - $160,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, anticipated assignment and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
