Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (overtime as required)
The Litigation Case Assistant, a vital member of the litigation case team, is responsible for the organization and maintenance of case documents and assists with a wide range of tasks in order to provide general case support. The legal assistant works directly with attorneys, clerks, litigation paralegals and other business service departments.
Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Draft correspondence and documentation under lawyer and paralegal supervision
- Assist lawyers and paralegals with document collections and productions
- Assist lawyers and paralegals in document management and organization
- Assemble exhibits and relevant documents for deposition, witness interviews and trial under supervision of paralegals
- Assist lawyers and paralegals with the preparation and filing of pleadings, discovery and motions
- Calendar and distribute court documents to respective litigation teams under supervision of litigation paralegals
- Assist with trial preparation and setting up trial case room; including packing supplies, shipping items, and moving furniture as needed
- Case room organization and maintenance
- Work with Records re warehousing of documents
- Conduct preliminary research assignments and drafting memoranda for review by lawyers and paralegals
- Assist attorneys, paralegals and staff regarding document filing requirements, civil procedure and judicial policy
- Ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines
- Must be punctual, reliable and responsive
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other applications as needed
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Must be able to work collaboratively with lawyers and business service staff, demonstrating strong teamwork and a positive attitude
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to proofread typed material for typographical, spelling and grammatical errors
- Ensure confidentiality of all the Firm’s and clients documentation and information
- Must be able to lift
- Must be able to travel domestically for trial assistance for extended periods
- Word processing experience (preferred)
- College degree with a strong academic record
The expected base salary for this position is $65,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
