On March 29, 2022 at 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Paris time, Davis Polk will host a hybrid event in partnership with Paris Arbitration Week, Pinheiro Neto, Marval O’Farrell Mairal and CPR.

Davis Polk partners Frances Bivens and Martin Rogers and counsel Jonathan Chang and Alexandre Vermynck, along with Pinheiro Neto partner Renê G.S. Medrado, Marval O’Farrell Mairal partner Julio César Rivera Jr., and CPR Manager Kai Sass-Hauschildt, will be among the speakers on Davis Polk’s panel, “Strategic considerations in deciding whether to challenge an arbitrator based on lack of independence: Perspectives from around the globe”.

Where circumstances give rise to a doubt as to the ability of an arbitrator to be impartial and independent (before or after the constitution of the arbitral tribunal, before or after the issuance of the award), stakeholders face complex decisions as to whether to take action (objection, non-confirmation, challenge, resignation, replacement, annulment of the award).

This panel will draw on the experience of practitioners from around the world, and from an arbitral institution, to discuss how to deal with these important questions of impartiality and independence, both on a practical and strategic level.

This event is intended for legal, financial and accounting professionals. Not open to the press.
