Davis Polk was honored at Becket’s Canterbury Medal Gala with the 2025 Legal Service Award in recognition of the firm’s commitment to combating antisemitism through its pro bono work representing Jewish students who were discriminated against at UCLA. Partner Elliot Moskowitz accepted the award on behalf of the firm.

Following the October 7th attack on Israel, anti-Jewish protests emerged on college campuses nationwide, including at UCLA, where protesters set up a “Jew Exclusion Zone” that barred Jewish students and faculty from key parts of campus. In granting the students’ motion for a preliminary injunction in their federal lawsuit against the university (Frankel v. Regents of the University of California), district court Judge Mark C. Scarsi called the exclusion of Jews on UCLA’s campus “unimaginable” and “abhorrent to our constitutional guarantee of religious freedom.”

Davis Polk is partnering with Becket and Clement & Murphy in this pro bono matter to defend and protect Jewish students and faculty.
