Davis Polk partner Lara Samet Buchwald has been named a finalist for the “Young Lawyer of the Year – Litigation” award at the American Lawyer’s Industry Awards.

Lara was recognized in part for her work advising on complex commercial litigation in courts across the country. Among her recent notable representations, she successfully defended 11 financial institutions in fraudulent transfer litigation, led Delta Air Lines’s litigation strategy in the bankruptcy of LATAM Airlines, and led a major financial institution to multiple victories, including arguing and winning a motion to dismiss aiding and abetting claims in shareholder derivative litigation.

In addition to her litigation practice, Lara is a leader at the firm and in the legal community. She serves as one of Davis Polk’s two Hiring Partners and is a member of the firm’s DEI and Pro Bono committees. She also maintains a very active pro bono docket and serves as a vice chair of the board of Legal Aid.

The winners will be announced on November 15, 2023, in New York.
