Joe Hall discusses Davis Polk’s market-leading crypto practice with the American Lawyer
Davis Polk partner and Corporate Governance practice head Joe Hall discussed the firm’s market-leading work advising on cryptocurrency-related matters with the American Lawyer.
The article highlights Davis Polk’s role advising on five of the seven – including the three largest – crypto IPOs completed to date in 2025 – Circle, Galaxy, Bullish, Figure and Gemini Space Station.
Joe noted that Davis Polk’s ability to grab the lion’s share of crypto IPO work is in part due to its early entry into the sector. “We have been involved in crypto in capital markets as a firm for over a decade,” he said, adding that the firm also did a significant amount of work during the crypto winter of 2022 to 2023 to gain more experience in the market for attorneys in various areas.
He also explained that the opening of the capital markets to crypto, which happened in earnest after the U.S. elections in late 2024, has introduced new investors and other parties. “We have been getting calls from all the banks, legal departments and internal committees,” he said. “And we are helping them understand the players in the game and which present the least risk.”
