Davis Polk partner David Portilla was quoted in Bloomberg Law discussing the OCC’s guidance allowing banks to engage in riskless principal crypto-asset transactions.

David said, “The move shows the OCC wants to help the banking sector keep up, particularly as digital assets become more embedded in the financial system and in customers daily financial lives.”

“This approach should help provide banks — traditional and novel — with flexibility to provide services and products their customers are seeking,” he added.
