Davis Polk partner Cheryl Chan was featured in a Q&A with Mergermarket and Ansarada on the current state of the M&A market in the Americas, as well as her predictions for 2022. Cheryl noted that the market “is white-hot and has been for quite a while now” and that there are “many interesting targets out there that have the ability to be transformative for companies, which may command much higher valuations than people might have thought in a pre-COVID world.” Among other trends, she expects that SPACs will continue to drive M&A at least for the next year or so, and that the pandemic itself probably won’t affect deal terms going forward, given the evolution the M&A market went through to deal with challenges posed by COVID-19.
