Advises on structuring, formation and operation of private and 1940 Act funds, leveraging more than a decade of senior in-house private credit legal experience.
Oran draws on extensive funds and transactional experience in structuring, forming and operating 1940 Act and private funds, helping clients navigate the complex regulatory and practical challenges of integrating and managing private credit and retail funds in multi-strategy platforms.
Clients benefit from his senior in-house legal experience and actionable, commercially focused advice in developing products across the private credit space, including direct lending, asset-backed credit, mezzanine, insurance and hybrid capital strategies.
Oran has deep experience advising on 1940 Act-related transactional issues, particularly co-investment order and other complex affiliation considerations.
Before joining Davis Polk, Oran spent 12 years in private credit-focused legal roles at Blackstone Credit & Insurance, most recently as Managing Director and Deputy General Counsel in Blackstone Credit and Chief Legal Officer & Secretary for Blackstone’s two credit business development companies (BDCs).
