On May 8, 2025, Davis Polk partner Luigi de Ghenghi will be among the speakers at the International Bar Association’s 40th International Financial Law Conference. Luigi spoke on the “How soft is soft law?” panel. Topics to be discussed include soft law instruments, such as guidelines issued by regulators; the multiplication of sources and forms of soft law instruments; the democratic legitimacy of regulators to issue soft law instruments; and the application of soft law rules by courts.
