Global Competition Review named Davis Polk partner Sheila Adams James to its 2025 list of “Women in Antitrust.” The  survey recognizes leading female professionals for their excellence and significant contributions to the field of antitrust and competition law.

In a Q&A with GCR, Sheila discussed the evolving antitrust landscape and noted that over the last 10 plus years, “the prevailing standards and principles that underpin antitrust analysis have been challenged, by the public, enforcers and academics, which has led to more robust conversations about the objectives of the antitrust laws.” She added that this discourse has “made the practice particularly interesting and dynamic in an ongoing way.”

When asked what advice she would give to women starting their careers as competition lawyers, Sheila said, “It is important to announce your presence and own the spaces in which you work. Do not say ‘no’ to yourself in terms of pursuing potential opportunities, let others say ‘no’ to you. Also, be curious and keep abreast of developments in your area of practice – it will make you a much better practitioner.”

The list of “Women in Antitrust” was published on May 21, 2025.
