Daniel E. Newman

Mr. Newman is counsel in Davis Polk’s Financial Institutions Group. He provides bank regulatory advice, including on the Bank Holding Company Act, financial services reform, corporate governance, regulatory implementation, single point of entry recapitalization and the preparation of living wills. His clients include many of the largest domestic and international SIFIs. Mr. Newman’s practice also includes capital markets transactions for U.S. and non-U.S. banks and other financial institutions. Fluent in Japanese, he started in the Tokyo office in 2008, where he primarily advised Japanese issuers on SEC-registered and exempt capital markets transactions and SEC reporting obligations.

  • Advised Mizuho Financial Group on the formation of Mizuho Americas, its U.S. bank holding company, and related corporate restructuring
