Ms. Hashmall is an associate in Davis Polk's Financial Institutions Group. She advises domestic and non-U.S. financial institutions and industry organizations on a wide range of bank regulatory matters, including the requirements, impact and implementation of financial regulatory reform. In this area, her practice focuses on various financial regulatory and reform topics, including the Bank Holding Company Act, the Volcker Rule, authority and control matters, single-point of entry recapitalization, total loss-absorbing capacity (TLAC), and the preparation of living wills. She frequently works with industry organizations in connection with advocacy efforts on legislative and regulatory proposals.

Work Highlights

Ms. Hashmall is active in providing regulatory advice to:

  • U.S. and foreign global systemically important banking groups (G-SIBs) on the preparation of their living wills
  • U.S. and foreign G-SIBs on compliance with final TLAC rule requirements, including in connection with capital markets transactions
  • Financial institutions on the Volcker Rule’s hedge fund and private equity fund requirements
  • Clients on authority and control matters under the Bank Holding Company Act

She also has extensive experience in the preparation of comment letters for TCH, SIFMA and financial institutions, including comment letters on the:

  • Bank of England’s proposal on internal MREL, January 2018
  • Financial Stability Board’s proposed guiding principles on internal TLAC, February 2017
  • Federal Reserve’s proposed rule on physical commodities and merchant banking, February 2017
