Sheila Adams James discusses merger control with Financier Worldwide
Davis Polk partner Sheila Adams James discussed key trends and developments in merger control with Financier Worldwide as a part of the publication’s October 2025 issue.
In the Q&A, Sheila provided an overview of how companies are adapting their transaction strategies in response to evolving merger control regimes and heightened regulatory enforcement saying, “For complex transactions that could implicate filings in many different jurisdictions, it has been more important than ever to work closely with antitrust counsel to strategize and coordinate the global antitrust clearance strategy.”
When asked about the emerging challenges in merger control for the remainder of this year, and into next year, she noted, “One potential challenge is the proliferation of state merger enforcement regimes. Passage of the Colorado and Washington State premerger notification statutes, and the potential enactment of similar statutes in other states, adds another regulatory consideration for merging parties.”
