Davis Polk AML/CFT head Dan Stipano was quoted in Reuters from a panel at the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists’ (ACAMS) 2025 Assembly in Las Vegas, which focused on the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and anti-money laundering (AML) compliance.

The article noted that BSA/AML compliance professionals are contending with changes in crypto regulation, Chinese money laundering, ever-shifting sanctions, tariff evasion, global regulatory volatility, worldwide financial threats, lack of institutional trust and pervasive economic uncertainty.

Because of this state of play, Dan remarked, “The big problem with the BSA is that if everything is a priority, nothing is a priority.”
