Megan Chia

Ms. Chia is an associate in Davis Polk’s Corporate Department, resident in Hong Kong. Her practice focuses on equity capital market transactions, initial public offerings, acquisitions and disposals, pre-IPO investments and advising general corporate and commercial matters, including regulatory and compliance works under the Hong Kong regime.

Before joining Davis Polk, Ms. Chia served as a legal execution lawyer in the investment banking department of a bank. Previous to that, she practiced law with another international law firm in Hong Kong. She was seconded for six months of training to the Corporate Department of a leading city law firm in London. Ms. Chia has also been seconded for six months to the Special Situations Group of Lehman Brothers, mainly focusing on pre-IPO transactions.

  • Unitas Capital’s acquisition of a majority stake equity interest in Shenzhen ZTE NetView Technology Co., an indirect subsidiary of ZTE Corporation, which has been listed on Shenzhen Stock Exchange and the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong

Prior to joining Davis Polk, Ms. Chia’s experience includes advising:

  • Lenovo Group, on its off-market repurchase of a portion of IBM’s shareholding in Lenovo Group
  • Istithmar PJSC, one of the largest private equity and alternative investment in Dubai, in its acquisition of a controlling stake in a Hong Kong-listed company, Hans Energy Company
  • Merck KGaA, a European pharmaceutical major on the disposal of its generic pharmaceutical business in the PRC and Hong Kong to Europharm Pharmaceutical Company
  • Measurement Specialties Inc., a NASDAQ-listed company, on its disposal of its tire-gauge sensor business in the PRC and Hong Kong
  • Media Tek Inc., a Taiwan-listed company and its private equity partner on their strategic investments in a PRC subsidiary of TCL Communication Technology Holdings, a Hong Kong-listed company engaging in developing 3G mobile phone and solution for mobile phone operator
