Davis Polk partner and Financial Institutions practice co-head Margaret Tahyar was quoted in American Banker discussing regulators’ impact on regional bank M&A trends.

The article noted that the current administration’s tendency to approve deals quickly has led to an increase in regional bank mergers which may continue over the next two years.

“The limited window of opportunity is the risk that we get another kind of administration in 2029, and they go back to the kind of behavior we were seeing during the early Biden era,” Margaret explained.

The window won’t “automatically slam shut, but it might get narrower,” she added.
