Head of Corporate and Transactional Pro Bono
Monday through Friday, 9:30 am – 5:30 pm (overtime as required)
This Pro Bono Attorney will focus on corporate and transactional pro bono matters involving primarily nonprofits and small businesses. The attorney will both practice corporate law and help administer the firm’s pro bono program.
Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Coordinate and supervise attorney teams working on corporate and transactional pro bono matters
- Work with legal service organizations to help build and manage clinic programs
- Track progress and outcomes on corporate and transactional matters across offices and practice groups
- Support the professional development of associates, including by developing content for and facilitating training programs and helping individual attorneys build their corporate and transactional skills
- Build practice resources and monitor legal developments relating to nonprofit and small business law
- Work with legal services organizations to identify appropriate pro bono clients, matters, and training opportunities
- Develop and coordinate opportunities to partner on transactional pro bono work with in-house counsel at the Firm’s corporate clients
- Work with other members of the Pro Bono Group to promote pro bono engagement and participation across offices and practice groups
- Contribute to internal and external informational publications
- Substantial experience practicing corporate/transactional law in a law firm, nonprofit, or in-house corporate legal department
- Demonstrated interest and prior participation in pro bono matters or community service
- Excellent interpersonal and client service skills
- Compelling writer and communicator
- Strong data and technology skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work as part of a diverse team
- Excellent professional judgment, problem-solving skills and initiative
- Bachelor’s degree and JD required
- Admitted and in good standing in New York State
- At least 5 years’ practicing corporate/transactional law
- Prior experience practicing corporate/transactional law in the pro bono context preferred
- Substantive knowledge of nonprofit law preferred
The expected base salary for this position ranges from $230,000 - $265,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, anticipated assignment, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
