Work Schedule

Monday through Friday; various shifts as assigned (additional hours as required; flexible schedules, weekends and after-hours availability necessary at times). Three days a week in office, two days remote.

Position Summary

Systems Engineers are responsible for architecting, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting highly available and secure technology services and processes.

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Engineering and operational support experience with Windows, VMware, SAN (Dell/EMC Unity, Powerstore, or similar), HCI (Nutanix or similar), NAS (Dell/EMC Isilon or similar)
  • Administering and troubleshooting Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, RHEL, VMWare, and Windows 10
  • Configuring and troubleshooting core services including DNS, DHCP, GPO, etc.
  • Working closely with IS Operations and Networking to achieve optimal performance of supported technologies
  • Working in tandem with InfoSec to secure all internally and externally facing systems
  • Technical leadership of deployment of new, or upgrading existing, server-based software platforms
  • Creating and maintaining scripts (PowerShell, PERL, etc.) and scheduled tasks to automate routine tasks and configurations
  • Ability to perform triage troubleshooting for all systems as first point of contact with other IT groups
  • Some experience with Exchange, SQL, and Citrix highly preferred
  • Participation in periodic weekly 24/7 on-call rotation
Qualifications / Position Requirements

Very strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent oral and written communication skills.  Strong ability to create and maintain detailed system documentation.  In addition, must be a creative thinker with proven problem-solving ability. Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative flat organization.

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • 5+ years related experience required
  • Experience at a large law firm or professional services organization strongly preferred

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $125,000 - $145,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, anticipated assignment, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Davis Polk offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
