Monday through Friday, 9:30 am – 5:30 pm (overtime as required)

Position Summary

The Financial Institutions Group (FIG) represents many of the most important U.S. and non-U.S. banks, broker-dealers, insurance companies, trading markets, and investment managers. FIG Legal Assistants support the attorneys, who advise our clients on a wide variety of matters, including financial regulatory, capital markets, M&A, compliance and enforcement, credit risk management, and insolvency issues.

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conduct factual research assignments tailored to client requests as needed
  • Draft correspondence and documentation under attorney supervision
  • Assist in the compilation and creation of presentations and memoranda
  • Revise, proofread, fact-check, and assist in distribution of various documents
  • Assist attorneys in preparation for client meetings and presentations
  • Draft, edit, and otherwise assist in publication to blog
  • Track and monitor financial regulator websites and circulate rule and other releases to the group, so they are updated in real time
  • Attend and summarize meetings of financial regulators, such as at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation
  • Prepare and distribute daily summary of important developments and news
  • Assist attorneys in preparation for speaking engagements and business development matters
  • Prepare drafts of client bills and related documentation
Qualifications / Position Requirements
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines
  • Must be punctual and reliable
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other applications as needed
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with attorneys and staff, demonstrating strong teamwork and a positive attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to proofread typed material for typographical, spelling, and grammatical errors
  • Ensure confidentiality of all the Firm’s and clients’ documentation and information
Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record is required


The expected base salary for this position is $55,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, anticipated assignment, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Davis Polk offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
