Director, Public Relations & Communications
Monday through Friday, 9:30 am – 5:30 pm (additional hours as required)
The PR Manager will play a central role in the execution of public relations and other external and internal communications activities that support the firm’s overall strategy and business development goals.
Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Helping to direct overall media strategy for the firm and its practice groups and lawyers, working closely with partners to develop effective public relations plans
- Assisting with the firm’s day-to-day media relations activities, including fielding requests for comment from journalists and researching publications, journalists and topics of interest
- Developing and maintaining relationships with key business, legal and trade journalists
- Providing counsel to lawyers on messaging and interview preparation
- Drafting press releases and other external announcements and developing targeted media lists for distribution
- Drafting and editing industry survey and award submissions and identifying/evaluating new opportunities
- Researching opportunities for and facilitating placement of bylined articles
- Drafting wide-ranging content for the firm’s external website and other communications vehicles
- Assisting with various reports to management and research projects
- Exceptional written communication skills, including ability to draft creative and compelling copy capable of achieving the necessary tone and voice for multiple audiences and publications
- Excellent organizational skills and very strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple, often time-sensitive, projects simultaneously and to prioritize competing deadlines
- Proactive approach with ability to initiate and manage projects
- Exceptional judgment and discretion
- Highly collaborative, with the ability to form effective working relationships with individuals at all levels
- Strong press contacts
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in public relations, preferably in the legal services field
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
The expected base salary for this position ranges from $150,000 - $200,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, anticipated assignment, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
