On March 27, 2024, Davis Polk Financial Institutions practice head Margaret Tahyar will be among the speakers at the University of North Carolina’s 2024 Banking Institute. Margaret will speak on the “Fighting the Last War: Enhancing Regulation in an Attempt to Prevent the Next Crisis” panel. The panelists will discuss proposed regulatory changes, including increasing capital requirements as part of the BASEL III end game resulting from the 2008 financial crisis, increasing liquidity requirements, and enhancing examinations as a result of runs at Silicon Valley and Signature Banks.
