Davis Polk partner and Capital Markets practice global chair Richard Truesdell was quoted in Bloomberg on the expectations investors typically have for a public company’s first earnings report after the launch of their IPO. 

“The expectation is that you beat your first earnings by a certain amount, so if you don’t beat as strongly as some investors are expecting, then there may be some grumbling,” Richard explained.
