Andrés V. Gil
Partner
Mr. Gil is a senior partner in Davis Polk’s Corporate Department with significant international experience. He is currently based in the Paris office, having been formerly based in New York where he headed the Corporate Department, was a member of the firm’s Management Committee and headed the Latin America practice. Mr. Gil also founded Davis Polk’s Madrid office and has been integrally involved in charting the course of the firm’s international strategy. Earlier in his career, he was based in the Paris office as an associate.

His clients have included Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), Credit Suisse, Endesa, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Roche Ltd., Telefónica and Repsol YPF.

Mr. Gil has led the Davis Polk team on some of the most significant international transactions to date, including advising:

  • Roche Group on its recent $16.5 billion Rule 144A/Regulaton S bond offering; this is the largest corporate bond sale in history
  • The Brazilian government on the $19 billion privatization of Telebrás (the largest privatization to date in Latin America), including the initial SEC registration of the 12 new spun-off telecommunications carriers
  • Telefónica on its $6.1 billion acquisition of its affiliates in Argentina, Brazil and Peru (the largest capital markets transaction to date by a corporate issuer in Latin America)
  • The company and the Spanish government’s holding company on the privatizations of Endesa, Repsol and Telefónica
  • In numerous other capital markets and M&A transactions
