Each year we encourage our summer associates to participate in an end-of-summer survey. Below are some of the comments we have received.

  • “The work was great – very interesting and very high stakes. The people were nice, brilliant, hardworking and great to work with.”

  • “I came here with two goals: (1) to determine if I wanted to spend a career here and (2) to figure out what practice area I wanted to begin with. The first I decided within two weeks; this firm is a wonderful, amazing, incredible place to work. The second I decided four weeks before I left; without the various programs, I never would have figured it out.”

  • “Last summer – writing research memos – not what I went to law school to do. This summer – hands-on, involved in live deals, interesting projects and challenges.”

  • “I really was pleased with the feedback I received from all of the lawyers with whom I worked. I was extremely impressed with the time they took to explain everything from small concepts to the big picture to me in the course of our work together.”

  • “I expected that Davis Polk had a great work environment and premier work/client opportunities. Clearly, I found that to be true, but I did not expect to find that Davis Polk’s commitment to public service and pro bono was as genuine and strong.”

  • “I felt like all of my assignments were uniformly good. I got a good mix of work, different types of assignments within my practice group, and was able to develop several different types of lawyering skills.”

  • “I worked on a trial, and I found the whole experience to be great. I was able to work on a variety of different projects for the case, and I enjoyed only working on one thing. I also enjoyed interviewing clients.”

  • I became very involved in a single case for my entire time here and was given a great deal of responsibility – my entire experience with that team was a highlight."

  • "One of my projects involved weeks of one-on-one work with a partner, developing a legal memo that was ultimately sent to the client. It was great experience to write the memo and then be part of a very involved revision/editorial process."

  • "In addition to having the opportunity to work on a high-profile deal, I also really appreciated the encouragement of and opportunity to do pro bono work."

  • "Being a fully integrated member of a team and having contacts with clients. Rewarding to have responsibility and follow the transaction from the beginning till the end, or almost the end."

  • "Getting to write briefs and sit in and talk on conference calls. These experiences were very exciting."
