Westar Energy, Inc. $270 Million Revolving Credit Facility

Davis Polk advised Westar Energy, Inc. in connection with a $270 million investment-grade, senior secured revolving credit facility. The collateral for borrowings under the facility consist of first mortgage bonds of Westar’s wholly owned subsidiary, Kansas Gas and Electric Company.

Based in Topeka, Kansas, Westar is the largest electric utility in that state, providing electric generation, transmission and distribution service to approximately 685,000 customers.

The Davis Polk credit team included partner Waide Warner and associates Justin Goldblatt and Gina Y. Pak (not yet admitted). The tax team included partner Neil Barr and associate Jason A. Chlipala. The environmental team included counsel Betty Moy Huber and associate Kevin J. Klesh. Counsel John T. Wright provided employee benefits advice.
