Nine Davis Polk Deals Earn 10 “Deal of the Year” Awards From IFR

Davis Polk was lead counsel on nine transactions that were named 2010 “Deals of the Year” by International Financing Review. The deals that were recognized involved Davis Polk’s representation of:

  • Agricultural Bank of China in its US$22.1 billion IPO, the largest in history at the time. IFR named the deal both “Global IPO of the Year” and “Asia-Pacific Equity Issue of the Year”

  • The lenders to Merck KGaA in connection with its $7.2 billion acquisition of Millipore Corp., which was named “EMEA Loan of the Year”

  • Odebrecht Drilling Norbe VIII/IX Ltd. in connection with its US$1.5 billion project bond offering, which was named “Latin America Bond of the Year”

  • The underwriters in connection with Canada’s global €2 billion bond offering, which was named “SSAR Bond of the Year”

  • The underwriters in connection with the concurrent SEC-registered offerings of common stock and equity units of PPL Corporation, which totaled $3.63 billion and was named “Americas Equity Issue of the Year”

  • PANDORA A/S on its $2 billion initial public offering and listing on NASDAQ OMX Copenhagen, which was named “EMEA Equity Issue of the Year”

  • The underwriters on the $632.5 million public offering by Stanley Black & Decker, Inc., which was named “Americas Structured Equity Issue of the Year”

  • The initial purchasers on the US$1.84 billion Regulation S convertible bond offering by Billion Express Investments Limited, a subsidiary of China Unicom (Hong Kong)  Limited, which was named “Asia-Pacific Structured Equity Issue of the Year” 

  • Bank of America in connection with various exposures to CIT Group, which was named “Americas Restructuring of the Year”
