Davis Polk Advises Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group on a Global Offering of Common Stock

Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP advised Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc. in connection with its global offering of ¥1 trillion (approximately US$11.14 billion, assuming that the domestic overallotment is exercised in full) in common stock. The offering was split into an international offering and a domestic offering in Japan. The joint lead managers for the international offering were Goldman Sachs International, Citigroup Global Markets Limited and Barclays Bank PLC. Shares in the international offering were placed under Rule 144A and Regulation S.

Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc. is one of the largest financial institutions in the world in terms of assets.
