Davis Polk Advises Star Tribune on the Confirmation of its Chapter 11 Plan of Reorganization

Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP advised Star Tribune Holdings Corporation and The Star Tribune Company (“Star Tribune”) in connection with the confirmation of their Plan of Reorganization in the Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. Star Tribune is set to emerge from bankruptcy on or about September 28, 2009.
Founded in 1867, The Star Tribune is the 15th-largest daily newspaper in the country with a circulation of approximately 334,000, and it is the tenth-largest Sunday newspaper with a circulation of approximately 552,000. Star Tribune filed voluntary petitions for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code on January 15, 2009. Star Tribune’s nine-month Chapter 11 restructuring has been a great success, with Star Tribune set to emerge with significant improvements to its cost structure and cash flow.
